Craniosacral Therapy

Craniosacral therapy is a gentle way of working with the whole body using light touch. It supports the body’s innate ability to balance, restore and heal itself, as well as helping to reduce stress in a supported and comfortable way. It helps in letting go of tension held in the body and calms the nervous system.

What to Expect During A Session

The practitioner makes gentle contact with your head, the base of your spine, and other areas encouraging your body to relax. Because the body functions as a whole, the practitioner may focus on areas other than where your symptoms occur.

Kate Willis

Craniosacral Therapist CSTA MA

Kate trained and practiced as a Registered Nurse from 1983-1992 in Edinburgh, Newcastle and London.

After completing her dance training, she explored ways of moving that enabled a relaxed sense within the body, together with the integration of the physical and emotional body. This included Alexander, Feldenkrais and Klein techniques and Scaravelli yoga. All these techniques are concerned with developing detailed anatomical knowledge and/or clarity of awareness of body alignment as well as maintaining a relaxed body.

Kate qualified as a craniosacral therapist in 2002 after training at The Karuna Institute in Devon with Franklyn Sills and has been practising since then.

She completed a Certificate in Counselling Skills in 2011. This course focused on the person-centred approach of psychologist Carl Rogers, which believes in people’s potential and ability to make the right choices for themselves. It includes being open to experience, being trusting and trustworthy, being curious about the world, being creative and compassionate.
